Join Zehorit Heilicher of Mideast to Midwest and co-host Linda Quinn at the iconic St. Paul Cafe Latte to celebrate community and coming together over incredible food!
Zehorit was born in Israel to a Yemenite immigrant family. Growing up in multi-cultural Givat Olga, she experienced Israel’s rich ethnic diversity through food and celebration.
Zehorit brings to the kitchen her Mediterranean roots, her passion for healthy and flavorful dishes and her love of people and storytelling. Teaching in the Twin cities for over 20 years, she shares her appreciation for the way in which culture, geography and history shape our food and the way we gather to eat it.
Zehorit will share Israeli cuisine, and discuss how it has developed with the influence of Middle Eastern, European & international immigration. She'll discuss the use of spices, innovation in the agricultural industry as well as her professional kitchen experience, providing a light sampling of appetizers representative of various ethnic communities.
Co-host and long time WWRC member Linda Quinn co-founded Cafe Latte in 1984, where she highlights many of the favorite recipes from her upbringing. She and husband Pete knew that if they used the best quality ingredients and kept the price affordable, the people would come. And they were not wrong!
Over the years they have had multiple expansions that have allowed them to grow while still maintaining their original mission of timeless comfort food, gourmet ingredients and affordable pricing.
In 2021, they opened Tres by Café Latte, which connects to the original cafe footprint, with their son Bryce. Tres is an event space, cake decorating area, storage and holiday pickup space as well as additional seating for Cafe Latte.
Zehorit and Linda will host our group in this incredible space and we will round out the evening with a sampling of delicious pizza, Vanilla Tres Leches Cake and refreshments provided by the Cafe Latte team (pictured above). You will even have the opportunity to take a brief tour of the production bakery and see where the magic happens!
